The Pretty Ugly Duckling

Well, as we all know the ugly duckling grow into a beautiful swan. But, does the story really ended up there?
With moral of the story: 'You cannot judge a person by outward appearance'?

How if.. the ugly duckling actually ugly on the inside as well?

No, she's not.

Well.. she wasn't.

Living as someone regarded to be ugly and treated unfair is not a very happy life. At some point she has accepted her fate actually. By stepping aside and detach herself from the atrocious society.

Until one day, heaven smiled at her and she grew pretty. She changed feather, from grey to pure white. Her neck became longer than the other. Her physical changes started to be noticeable.

..And somehow, everybody started to treat her differently.

It became easier for her to get ones into a session of chat with her..

She started to see admiration in some eyes when somebody talked to her or even simply passing by.

She enjoyed it.

But sadly, nobody knows that they've stripped the purity and innocence once inside her with their 'another' attitude toward her before.

Now for her, everything is a business.

Nothing comes free.

She put a price for every glance addressed to her. It is of course not a price can be paid off with money. A little more complex.

And currently, she is in a great confusion. About whether or not anything called "Love" is real.

Each and every day, she taught herself that 'love' is simply on the flesh. It's nothing transcendental.

She is in a good effort to make herself believe that 'love' comes because of her beauty.

..That once the beauty leave her, everybody also will. Again, turn their back to her.

The prettier she get, the more evil she become.

She doesn't know how to love.

She doesn't believe that she is loved aside from her being a good looking.

..But maybe all this mess only happened because of she's weak.

She's afraid she will be hurt once she loves with all her heart and get something she doesn't expect in return.

She's afraid to be loved.

She is yet able to confess to herself that she feels loved.

She's not strong enough to acknowledge that she's loved.

Because if she's strong, maybe she doesn't need to make sure that her love subject loves her back.

She only need to listen to her heart.

All she's doing now is mirroring.

She doesn't have any idea about what to do. Or where to stand.

What a pretty pity duckling.
